The transition from primary school (year 6) to junior secondary (year 7) is an exciting and important time. Each year, Stretton State College engages students in a transition program, where students have the opportunity to attend and experience our Illaweena campus.
Transition Programs
Stretton State College has two specific transition programs to assist students moving from primary to high school.
- The first program is catered for current year 6 students on the Gowan Campus participate in the Year 7 Experience. In this program, students rotate through a selection of specialist subjects across a three-week period. These subjects include:
- Food Studies
- Digital Technologies
- Design Technologies
- Health and Physical Education
- Music
- Visual Art
- The second transition program caters for those students who are enrolled at Stretton State College for the following year, which may include current students on the Gowan Campus, and also those students from other schools. This program provides future year students the opportunity to attend a full transition day (usually in the last two weeks of the year). During the day, students join together to meet their teachers and class members through a day of learning and discovery in our high school setting.
